Lara Dutta celebrates 24th anniversary of Miss Universe win

Actor Lara Dutta has multiple reasons to beam with joy today as May 12 marked not only Mother’s Day but also on this date 24 years ago she won the Miss Universe pageant.

Taking to Instagram, Lara took a stroll down memory lane and posted a picture from her Miss Universe victory. Interestingly, it’s her father’s birthday today as well.
Sharing a picture with her father and her daughter, Lara wrote, “Mother’s Day…. Father’s Birthday…. Miss Universe win 24th Anniversary day …….. the 12th of May! One helluva day!!!! #12thmay.”

Lara’s post is flooded with heartfelt reactions.
Reacting to the post, actress Dia Mirza dropped a string of red heart emojis in the comment section.
Actor Tisca Chopra also commented by posting a few heart emojis.
Lara was the second Indian after Sushmita Sen to win the Miss Universe crown. Later, she entered Bollywood with the 2003 film Andaaz. In addition to acting, she also mentors aspiring models for international beauty contests.
Recently, she was seen in the web series ‘Ranneeti: Balakot & Beyond’.
Speaking to ANI, she said, “It is based on true events that rewrote the history in many ways of our country. So, the Pulwama attack had its own repercussions with the Balakot airstrike. But it goes beyond just these isolated incidents because it puts India in a world perception as a power that would refuse to back down and I think India took a very, very strong stand.”
“And it changed the way that India was perceived the world over from a military point of view, from a political point of view from a world power point of view. And very few people within the country know what went on behind closed doors, that high tension, the urgency of those situations when they were happening, what were they what they felt like,” she added.-ANI
