Amidst the political upheaval in Haryana following the withdrawal of support from three Independent MLAs to the BJP government, Jannayak Janta Party (JJP) leader Dushyant Chautala has announced his willingness to back Leader of Opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda if he moves to topple the state government.
Chautala expressed his stance on Wednesday, highlighting the BJP’s vulnerability after losing support from the Independent MLAs. He emphasized that with the current numerical dynamics, he would consider extending support to Hooda from outside if steps are taken to challenge the ruling government.
The former deputy chief minister called for Chief Minister Nayab Saini’s resignation on moral grounds, citing the BJP’s failure to maintain a simple majority in the assembly. He pointed out that the withdrawal of support from five MLAs, including two who resigned from the Vidhan Sabha, underscores the government’s instability.
Regarding the defection of JJP MLAs, Chautala mentioned the party’s disciplinary measures, indicating that notices have been issued to those attending events of other parties. He asserted that if their responses are unsatisfactory, the party will seek their disqualification from the Speaker.
Responding to the BJP’s claim that a no-confidence motion cannot be initiated within six months, Chautala argued that the previous motion was against the previous government, whose term has ended. Therefore, he contended that a new motion could be introduced against the current administration.
